Resource Development Through Strategic PlanningJMH Associates specializes in turnkey operations for developing the internal and external abilities to manage substantial fundraising efforts. It has the capacity to provide hands-on assistance with development-related projects and events to organizations on an as-needed basis. The firm develops resources through strategic planning for non-profit and non-governmental organizations. It is comprised of a group of talented individuals that know the ins and outs of corporate, foundation, and individual fundraising, as well as Board development and public relations. They include prospect researchers, strategic planners, proposal writers, public affairs and communications experts, and event planners. JMH Associates also works with clients to develop and produce institutional case statements. JMH Associates believes that each organization has its own unique challenges and opportunities, and works in tandem with its clients to determine the best approach for each organization.
Selected Engagements Presently, JMH Associates is engaged with the Gettysburg
National Battlefield Museum Foundation (a public-private partnership) to execute a $95 million dollar campaign to restore the battlefield,
start an endowment, and construct a new visitor center. The firm has worked with the Foundation since the project’s inception to develop a
strategic plan, which was approved by the U.S. Park Service. JMH Associates is also currently working with the Common Good, a non-profit
dedicated to restoring common sense and reliability to American law.
JMH Associates' Professionals Serve As Adjuncts To Your Staff JMH Associates retains a staff of highly-skilled and experienced professionals that are available to its clients; however, on initial engagements, John M. Hills, the firm’s principal, works personally and directly with the management, board, and staff to develop a plan that merges institutional priorities with a development and communications plan. Together, they determine what works best to maximize potential fundraising revenue from many diverse sources. This approach for initial engagements enables the most efficient use of the firm’s resources on an as-needed basis, which translates into cost savings for clients. Mr. Hills’ past work and experience with the Brookings Institution, Georgetown University, University of Maryland, and Roanoke College enables him to bring rich expertise and successful approaches to the clients of JMH Associates. Some Thoughts About An Outcomes-Focused Partnership JMH Associates views its role as one of providing support, counsel, and guidance. Its consulting engagements have been most beneficial to the clients when the staff is able to develop a close working relationship directly with the development team. In addition to Hills’ role as strategic advisor, the firm can be a useful sounding board on all matters of fundraising and communications, including personnel and policy issues. Europe Currently, JMH Associates is looking to expand its work internationally, starting in the United Kingdom, by helping NGOs focus on strategic planning to increase resources. The firm’s focus in the U.K. would be to work with an organization’s management team in a variety of areas including: in-country staff training, board development, needs assessment, and institutional coordination to maximize effectiveness in collaboration with management and the board. Working with organizations in the U.K. would allow JMH Associates to take advantage of a much wider array of resources, both in the U.K. and in other countries, including the U.S. Europe |
